Training Programs
General
Fees are charged in accordance with the Department of Training and Workforce Development policies. The policy is available on the Department’s web site – http://policies.det.wa.ed.au and then search for VET Fees and Charges.
1. Payment options:
(a) Pay the full amount of fees and charges;
(b) Present a signed authority from your employer with payment for the students fees and charges (invoice and receipt will be issued upon payment);
(c) Direct Debit – with your authority, weekly/fortnightly amounts will be deducted from your bank account, minimum deduction amount of $25.00 weekly;
(d) Make application on the grounds of severe financial hardship for fees and charges to be waived.
2. Concession Rate Criteria applies to The Department of Education and Training funded programmes:
The following students are entitled to the concession rate on tuition charges:
(a) Persons and dependants of persons holding:
(i) a Pensioner Concession Card;
(ii) a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs;
(iii) a Health Care Card
(b) Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY;
(c) Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of the Youth Allowance;
(d) Persons who are inmates of a custodial institution.
(e) Persons who have reached the age of 15 but have not yet reached 18 years of age in the calendar year for which they enrol.
Proof (photocopy) of one of the above must be presented upon payment of fees.
3. Refunds
Advice of withdrawal
Students need to advise in writing, of their decision to withdraw from training. Requests must be lodged within two weeks of the official withdrawal date.
Full refunds
Students who withdraw are entitled to a full refund of fees and charges where:·
- A course/qualification or module/unit of competency is cancelled or re-scheduled to a time unsuitable to the student
- A student is not given a place in the programme due to maximum number of places being reached
- A student accepts an offer of a place in a university; in this situation, students must provide a copy of the letter of offer with their refund application.
Part refunds
Students who withdraw for reasons other than those outlined above, and who lodge a withdrawal form prior to or within fours weeks of commencing their module/unit of competency or their program of study or before 25% of delivery has been concluded (whichever is sooner) will be eligible for a full refund of their course fee and 50% of the resource fee paid.
Pro rata refunds
Accountable officers can approve a pro rata refund of fees and charges at any time during the course of delivery if students withdraw for reasons of personal circumstances beyond their control, for example:·
- Serious illness resulting in extended absence from classes
- Injury or disability that prevents the student from completing their program of study
- Other exceptional reasons at the discretion of the accountable officer.
In all cases, relevant documentary evidence (for example, medical certificate) is required.
4. Fee Structure
Program fees vary depending upon the funding source for the programme.
WADET funded programmes have fees as set by the Department of Training and Workforce Development. These programmes may also attract resource fees.
AAAP programmes are funded by the Australian Government and are free (criteria applies).
Commercial programme fees are set at the time the programme is advertised.
